Patient FAQs

How do I get more information about my upcoming surgery?

Please contact our surgical coordinator at 443-481-3735.

What medications should I stop taking prior to my upcoming surgery?

Typically, most medications can be taken until your surgery and even the morning of surgery.

If you take blood thinning medications such as aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), warfarin (Coumadin), apixaban (Eliquis), rivaroxaban (Xarelto) or any of the new diabetes / weight loss drugs (GLP-1), please discuss at least a week ahead of time with our surgical coordinator Cathy, 443-481-3735. All supplements that you take should also be stopped prior to your surgery.

You will also be contacted by the prep team the evening of the last business day before your surgery to review your medications and final instructions.

When time should I come in for my surgery?

You will be asked to arrive about 2 hours prior to your scheduled surgery time. The prep team will confirm the time the night before surgery. During those 2 hours, your and your family will have a chance to talk with me and the anesthesiologist prior to your procedure. Please stay by your phone on the day of surgery as occasionally the timing will change.
